Directions
  1. Rinse lentils with cold water. Put them in a large pot and cover with 8 cups cold water. Add bay leaves. Bring to boil, lower heat, and simmer for 30 minutes.
  2. Add garlic, onion, carrots and celery. Cook until vegetables are tender (about 30 minutes).
  3. Add tomatoes and cumin, stir well, and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove bay leaves before serving.
